The mission of the Pima County Enrollment Coalition is to increase the number of insured through health insurance education, enrollment assistance, and community partnerships in Southern Arizona.

Faith Based Engagement
OE3 Goal: Engage 4 churches in outreach and enrollment efforts Support outreach efforts through information dissemination Host assisters to provide enrollment assistance Host enrollment events Identify volunteers to become assisters

Convened Faith-Based Meeting with CMS
Brought together community leaders, pastors and hospital Chaplin to discuss faith-based strategy for Tucson and Pima County with representative from CMS Region IV.

Resource Mapping Churches in zip codes with high uninsured rates
Churches with food pantries and diaper banks Churches with strong community connections Churches in close proximity to schools

On-Site Enrollment Grace St Paul’s and New Life provided assisters with space for on-site enrollment assistance Announcements was place in the church newsletters and Sunday programs Flyers were distributed through the food pantries and diaper banks

Hosting A Open Enrollment Fair
Grace Temple Missionary Baptist Church has been helping to increase awareness of the ACA since OE1. Identified church volunteers to become trained CACs during OE1 Hosted ACA 101: Health Insurance Options Seminars Hosted annual enrollment events Engaged the Women’s Ministry and Nurse’s Guild

Lessons Learned Identify: Lay leaders, church staff, ministries to champion the ACA are key to successful outreach “Don’t ignore the neck trying to get to the head.” –Pastor Alvin Love Timing: Materials and tools must be provided in a timely fashion to allow pastors to build it into their Sunday services Stay Connected: Provide health insurance updates
