22 A TIME OF SHARING WITH GOD’S CHILDREN OF ALL AGES

23 Read by Deacon Melinda Post
THE HEBREW SCRIPTURE Exodus 2:1-10 Read by Deacon Melinda Post Now a man from the house of Levi went and married a Levite woman. The woman conceived and bore a son and when she saw that he was a fine baby, she hid him three months. When she could hide him no longer she got a papyrus basket for him, and coated it with tar; She put the child in it and placed it among the reeds on the bank of the river Nile. His sister, Miriam, stood at a distance, to see what would happen to him.

24 The daughter of Pharaoh came down
The daughter of Pharaoh came down to bathe in the river, while her attendants walked beside the river. She saw the basket among the reeds and sent her maid to bring it to her. When Pharaoh’s daughter opened the basket, she saw the child. He was crying, and she took pity on him,"This must be one of the Hebrews' children,” she said. Then his sister said to Pharaoh's daughter, “Shall I go and get you a nurse from the Hebrew women to nurse the child for you?” Pharaoh's daughter said to her, “Yes.” Then his sister said to Pharaoh's daughter, “Shall I go and get you a nurse from the Hebrew women to nurse the child for you?” Pharaoh's daughter said to her, “Yes.”

25 So the girl went and called the child's mother
So the girl went and called the child's mother. Pharaoh's daughter said to her, “Take this child and nurse it for me, and I will give you your wages.” So the woman took the child and nursed it. When the child grew up, she brought him to Pharaoh's daughter, and she took him as her son. She named him Moses, “because,” she said, “I drew him out of the water.”

26 THE SONG OF PREPARATION [All who are able please stand]

27 (1) Happy our home when God is there, Binding our hearts in love, Blessing each day with moments shared, Drawing our thoughts above. (2) Happy our home when daily prayer Bears every daily need; When parents share God's Holy Word And daily let Him lead.

28 (3) Happy our home when children praise, Lifting our Savior's name; When parents speak and show His love, Faithful each day the same. (4) Father of all, our God of Peace, We look to You alone; Come with Your precious gift of love And make our house Your home.

THE SERMON ‘THE GIFT OF SACRIFICIAL LOVE’ Exodus 2:1-10 Bayshore Gardens Community Church Dr. Daniel Herlein

30 One of the great mom’s in the Bible
Her name was JOCHEBED (Exodus 6:20 & Numbers 26:59) A Hebrew word which means “Yahweh is glory.” She was the mother of Moses Moses’ brother, Aaron, and sister, Miriam.

31 A few of the BLESSINGS we receive from OUR moms as a gift from God.
In Jochebed, we see THE BLESSING OF A MOTHER’S CARE and CONCERN.

32

33 In Jochebed, we see THE BLESSING OF A MOTHER’S INFLUENCE AND TRUST

34 WORK SACRIFICIAL LOVE In Jochebed, we see THE BLESSING OF A MOTHER’S
AND SACRIFICIAL LOVE

35 The sacrificial love of a mother for her children gives us a little window to the very highest form of sacrificial love when God came to us in the person of Jesus Christ and laid down His life as a payment for our sins.

41 ‘THERE’S WITHIN MY HEART A MELODY’
#746 ‘THERE’S WITHIN MY HEART A MELODY’

42 There’s within my heart a melody,
Jesus whispers sweet and low, “Fear not, I am with thee, Peace Be Still,” In all of life’s ebb and flow. Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, Sweetest name I know. Fills my every longing, Keeps me singing as I go.

43 All my life was wrecked by sin and strife,
Discord filled my heart with pain. Jesus swept across the broken strings, Stirred the slumbering chords again. Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, Sweetest name I know. Fills my every longing, Keeps me singing as I go.

44 Feasting on the riches of His grace,
Resting ‘neath His sheltering wing, Always looking on His smiling face, That is why I shout and sing. Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, Sweetest name I know. Fills my every longing, Keeps me singing as I go.

45 Soon He’s coming back to welcome me
Far beyond the starry sky; I shall wing my flight to worlds unknown, I shall reign with Him on high. Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, Sweetest name I know. Fills my every longing, Keeps me singing as I go.

46 THE PASTORAL BENEDICTION
Go forth from this place as God’s elect and covenant people . . . AMEN
