1) John Cabot ( ) Italian, worked for the King of England Found codfish along Newfoundland and Labrador.

5. 2) Jacques Cartier (1491-1557) -French
-Credit for putting Canada on the map
-Thought the Iroquois word «Kanata » (means village) meant ‘Canada’ (as in the whole region)
His colony attempts failed in Canada

6. 3) Samuel de Champlain!!!!! (1567-1635)
French
1st European to establish a permanent European settlement in Nouvelle- France (Canada)
-1608 built the HABITATION de QUEBEC (1st permanent Euro settlement in NF)
