3 Arrival at Aeroport de Barcelona
GENERAL INFORMATION Barcelona Airport is located in the southwest of the Barcelona, 12 km southwest of the center of city, between the city limits of El Prat de Llobregat, the town gives its name to the airport, Viladecans and Sant Boi. Also known as Barcelona El Prat airport, it is located just three kilometres from the Port of Barcelona and 7 km from the Zona Franca Industrial Estate, one of the most important industrial and logistical parks in Spain and key factor in Barcelona’s economic strength. It belongs to the public company ENAIRE (before called AENA), "Aeropuertos Españoles y Navegación Aérea", who manages almost all the Spanish airport network. Barcelona aiport is the main airport in Catalonia, and the second biggest in Spain, behind Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas airport. By its passenger traffic data in is the 10th european airpor; located at position 27th, and 2snd position as best airport in Southern Europe, in the Skytrax World Airport Awards 2015. Madrid-Barcelona air shuttle continues being the route with Spain's busiest passenger.

4 Train – First train to Bcn Sants
R2 train line is currently the only line that arrives at the airport from Barcelona or other cities from Catalunya. Travellers from Maçanet-Massanes station have a direct train to the airport, with no transfers. But those passengers coming from Estación de Francia (Estació de França) should use R2 Sud line (south) trains to go to any stations of Passeig de Gràcia, Barcelona Sants or el Prat de Llobregat, and there transfer to the new train destination "Aeroport" (means airport). 7 2.- Accommodation As l’Ametlla is a very touristic place, in November the best places to accommodate are closed. Nevertheless, you still have two options to choose although we would like you to stay at the same place (the camping) so we will be able to get a bus (with some extra charges) to take you there in the evening and bring you to the school in the morning (walking it is 30mins far from the school)

11 3.- The weather and the village
In November the weather can be very changeable in our place. Usually the temperatures can be 15-10, but we can find some days with up to 20 degrees. You will be able to check the weather the previous week.

26 5.- The schedule Below you have a draft of the final schedule. Dates and times or some activities may change. In the final schedule which you will get by the 17th of October (one month time) you will have a more detailed document with times and characteristics of the activities we are arranging. You are supposed to arrive on Sunday, the 13th in the evening (the time you get the airport + 3h to get to the village by two trains) I will be on Sunday ready to welcome you and bring you to the acommodation

Day two Tuesday, the 15th of November Morning 10h Talk on fishing and evironment, by the government representative on Fishing, agriculture and farming (Speech in English) 11h-14h Visit to Balfegó** and guided tour in the factory and also their tuna fishing vessels Afternoon - evening 14h Lunch 16-18h Confradia

29 **Balfego FISHERMEn AND TRADERS 2.0
It is one of the biggest Spanish fishing companies specialised in tuna fishing. Currently the village of l’Ametlla de Mar harbors the only six purse-seiners authorized to capture bluefin tuna in the whole of Spain. Cousins Manel Balfegó and Pere-Vicent Balfegó, co-Presidents of the companies that make up Grup Balfegó are the fifth generation of a family of fishermen in the village of l’Ametlla de Mar. They are also the captains of their respective tuna fishing vessels. In 2002, moved by their entrepreneurial spirit and together with their respective wives, they decide to partner up and define a new company strategy by starting a trading company to sell their own catch and investing on an innovative aquaculture project.

Guided visit to the FISHING MUSEUM OF CATALONIA 12h Talk on fishing technologies and innovation Afternoon 13h Workshop “how to cook the fish” and LUNCH 15,30 Visiting the most famous fishing location in Palamós, how they fish, meeting fishermen, and how they sell the fish. 17,30h Back to l’Ametlla de Mar (approx time of arrival 20/21h)

31 Thursday, the 17th of November
Morning 9h Meeting at the port 9,15-12,30h Activities with SAR Emergency drill with helicopter and the school’s vessel Guided visit to SAR vessel Activities with the AQUATIC subdivision of the state police Afternoon 13h Lunch 15h Tour in Delta de l’Ebre – Natural Park and World Heritage Where the widest Spanish river has its mouth and meets the Mediterranean sea. Fishing traditions, Bird watching, and natural protected spots.

32 Day 5 As some of you are leaving in the morning, we haven’t scheduled any specific activities since we don’t know whether we will have the time or not. A good option may be visiting Barcelona on your own before leaving if you wish. You can also stay at l’Ametlla and do some activities with us. This day will be scheduled just in case you agree.
