Case Clinic Methodology
Guide a team or a group of peers through a process in which a Case Giver presents a Case (challenge), and a group of peers or team members move into a helper role and process consultation. Case Clinic format: generates new ways of framing the issue and develops new approaches for responding to it. Purpose To help a colleague responding to an important and immediate challenge better and more effectively. Outcomes Concrete and innovative ideas for how to respond to the pressing challenge. High level of trust and positive energy among the peer group. adapted to our framework for today usually performed in person Logistics The Case Clinics methodology is usually applied to groups of 4-5 peers with a minimum of 70 minutes of time. In the context of the Regions for Biodiversity Learning Platform, the Case Clinics methodology was adapted to fit in the 90 minutes of our online meeting and account for representatives from the 10 member regions.

Learning Platform Principles Meeting Agreements
Inclusiveness and diversity; Multilateral exchanges; Collaboration and participation; Actions on the ground. Meeting Agreements Openness. Active listening / genuine presence. Trust and respect. Defer judgment / criticism is ruled out Participation. Inclusiveness and diversity – The R4BLP is open to all regions, despite the stage of the development of their BSAPs. Multilateral exchanges - The R4BLP breaks the paradigm that only North hemisphere regions have technical knowledge to offer. The platform values the contributions of both North and South Hemisphere regions and creates learning spaces for transversal and multilateral exchange. Collaborative and participatory - The R4BLP stimulates regions to think and work collectively over specific obstacles and challenges. Actions on the ground - The R4BLP considers the learning trajectories of each region to support the elaboration and implementation of realistic plans and concrete actions.

Presentation of Goias’ Case State Government of Goias
Joao Marcos Bertoldi Sustainable Development Group - Secretary of Environment and Water Resources State Government of Goias How to use market incentives to influence agricultural producers to adopt environmentally friendly practices?
10
Challenge The agriculture sector in Goias relies on industry standard practices, such as aerial application of chemicals and the use of genetically modified seeds, to maintain crop yields. In Goias, the proximity of many rural agriculture areas to protected areas is such that there are unintended consequences from agricultural practices on the surrounding landscape. Goal Identify innovative market strategies to incentivize commodity producers, near protected areas, to be environmentally friendly, while still maintaining crop yields and profitability. Use society to send signals and influence the market to increase demand for environmentally friendly food production that ultimately will shift agriculture practices and industry norms and create a new market for agroecological commodities that offer a more diverse range of products that have green origin certification.

Questions or Clarifications
Think about what else you need to know or better understand about Goias’ Case to propose solutions and guidance. call each person to read the questions already written in the chat box during the presentation, in the order they are presented. Explain they have to be assertive so that we can explore all questions. After they finish, if we have time, ask if there is any burning questions?
12
Solution Brainstorming
What aspect of Goias’ challenge do you relate to? Do you have any related experiences to share that will contribute to Goias finding a solution to their challenge? How does overcoming this hurdle contribute to the implementation of the CBD and achieving the Aichi Targets in your territory?
13
Solution Brainstorming
If you were in Goias’ situation what actions or strategies would you take to overcome this challenge? Try to think outside of the box. Your ideas do not need to be connected to your own experience.
