Like a Students’ Union, NUS has a democratic structure that allows it to make decisions on which stances and views you want us to take (policy)
Like a Students’ Union, this can seem a bit confusing at first
Like a Students’ Union our members have a right to get involved
Unlike a Students’ Union some of NUS policy making structures are autonomous from some others

National Conference
Head policy making body of NUS. Sets direction for year ahead and elects President, VPs, Block of 15 and Trustees
A number of elected students based on your institution size
Zones
Discuss issues in each of the 5 Policy zones. Elects Zone Committee in April
Students interested in policy areas
Liberation Campaigns
Sets policy for each of the 4 Liberation Campaigns & elects their leaders
Self-defining students of that Liberation group
Student Section
Sets policy for each of the 3 Student Sections & elects their leaders
Students of that section group
Nations
Sets policy for each of the 3 Nations & elects their leaders
Studenst from that Nation

You elect a National Executive Council to pass interim policy between conferences
In between National Conferences the Zone Committees, led by the VPs implement the policy that you have set
They are held to account on this work by the NEC 6 times a year and by you at Zone Conferences and National Conference
