The HP Indigo 7600 Digital Press allows Glo Color to offer personalized special effect printing Challenge Glo Color Labs wanted to pioneer the photobook market in India but found silver halide production to be costly, slow and wasteful. It wanted a digital solution that would cut costs and time. Solution It initially installed the HP Indigo 3050 before adding a new press every year. Results Photobooks can be produced 40% faster at 40% of the cost, without compromising on quality, and can be delivered within two days of ordering. 11 Digipix launches Ecopix cut print service
A green brand for the Brazilian market replaces silver halide Challenge Digipix wanted to migrate its cut print process from traditional silver halide to digital to make it more scalable and reduce environmental impact. Solution Digipix invested in the HP Indigo WS6000p Digital Press to provide 4 x 6 inch color cut prints quickly without compromising on quality. Results Digipix has launched its Ecopix brand and is currently producing up to 100,000 cut prints per day on HP Indigo. The digital process eliminates the use of heavy metals, reduces energy consumption and uses paper with FSC® certification. 13 4 November 2017 Orwo Leading the conversion from silver halide to HP Indigo digital solution ORWO is one of Germany’s largest photo laboratories, with a staff of 280 and revenues of more than €36 million. The company purchased the HP Indigo WS6000p Digital Press to produce photo calendars, including premium photo calendars formerly produced on silver halide. ORWO uses E-Photo Lustre photobook paper from Felix Schoeller, which is specially developed to offer true photographic quality for prints from HP Indigo Presses. Once printed, the photos are automatically transferred to a laminating machine, connected downstream of the HP Indigo, to add a high-gloss finish. Ulbricht couldn’t be happier. “For the first time, we’ll be able to produce high-gloss photo calendars with comparable quality to calendars printed on photographic silver halide machines.” HP Confidential
