If you’re eligible for this ceremony, you will receive a separate from the Registrar’s Office.
6:30 pm in Jesse Auditorium
Natural Resources students may walk in the CAFNR ceremony. Please to confirm participation if you are Natural Resources.

4. Participating in the Ceremony
CAFNR Ceremony
Saturday, December
4 pm in the Hearnes Center
** You must be lined up in the Hearnes Fieldhouse by 3:15 pm.**
Ceremony will be approximately 2 hours.
No tickets are required.
No practice is required.
There are handicap seats, and all seats are on a first come, first sit basis.
Please purchase a cap, gown and goldenrod tassel from the Mizzou Store.
You will sit by major but can sit next to your friends.
You do not have to participate in the ceremony to graduate.
Natural Resources students may walk in the CAFNR ceremony. Please to confirm participation if you are Natural Resources.

5. Applying for Graduation
You must apply for graduation by completing this link
Even if you aren’t planning on participating in the ceremony, you need to apply.
This will help verify your file is reviewed for completion.
You can also make an appointment with Laura Friedrich (via MU Connect) to review your graduation plan and pronounce your name.
You should submit this application prior to September. After that date, your name might not appear in the program.

6. CAFNR Reception go back
A cookie and punch reception will be held in the Field House following the ceremony. Faculty and advisors will be there to greet you and your family.

7. Will your name be in the program?
You must apply for graduation by clicking here: Apply for Graduation
Names for the commencement program are pulled around September 30th. If you changed anything after this date your name might not be included in the program. Your name will be read & your file will be reviewed for completion, if you apply after this date.
If you have a privacy (FERPA) hold, you will not be listed in the Commencement program. Contact the Registrar’s Office for more information.
Your name will appear on your diploma exactly as it is written in myZou. Name changes can be requested at the Admissions Office (230 Jesse Hall). To verify your name go to: mydegree.missouri.edu.

8. Graduation Degree Checks
A degree check was ed in June to all students who indicated a graduation date of fall 2017.
The purpose of this degree check is to let you know if you are on course to graduate OR if there is a problem preventing you from completing requirements.
If there were ANY notes other than “ok” on your degree check, you NEED to make changes to ensure requirements are being met.

9. Grad Plan Change Form go back
If you need to make changes based on your degree check, you should do so with a Grad Plan Change Form.
This should be submitted if you make any changes to your course selections. If you are changing the semester ONLY, you do not need to submit a change form.
Failure to make the proper substitutions COULD prevent you from graduating.

10. Minors
Minors do not print on your diploma but they are on your transcripts.
Minors are awarded by each college. If you are receiving a minor from another college, you should verify you’ve completed all required classes and forms with the awarding college. Sometimes colleges wait until the end of the semester to input minors in myZou. Keep checking to see when yours are awarded.

11. Online/Transfer Courses
All Mizzou Online Courses must be completed and posted in myZou by December 19, 2017 in order for degrees to be reviewed on time.
Official transcripts for all transfer courses must be sent to Admissions, 230 Jesse Hall before December 19th to allow posting time.
Please follow up with the sending institutions. Just because you requested a transcript, does not mean it was sent. Sometimes you have a hold or other tasks to complete first.

12. Incomplete Courses (“I”s)
All Incomplete grades will automatically turn into an “F” if they are not completed by the end of the semester. This will affect your GPA and may prevent graduation, so take care of all incompletes before December 19th.

13. Click NEXT to learn about these honors.
You can graduate with three various types of honors:
Latin honors: based on your UM system GPA
CAFNR(departmental honors): requires a project or thesis approved by your honors committee
Honors College: awarded to students who completed the Honors College coursework
Honors cords will be distributed for Latin and CAFNR honors a week before the ceremony. The announcement will be sent via for you to pick them up.
You will not be provided with a replacement so it is your responsibility to bring the cords to the ceremony.

14. Latin Honors
Latin honors listed on your final transcript will be based on your final official UM System GPA
Latin honors listed in the commencement bulletin and announced at the ceremony will be based on your official UM System GPA at the end of the summer 2017 semester.
This is because your final GPA will not be available until after the commencement ceremony. We cannot make exceptions to this rule.
Latin Honors are factored on your UM system cumulative GPA using the following breakdowns:

15. Departmental Honors next
This project/research must have been started before the fall 2017 semester and is reviewed by your department. More information can be found here.
It is your responsibility to complete all requirements towards departmental honors. Talk with your committee to make sure you’ve completed all the work to earn this honor.
CAFNR will give you a white cord to wear to designate this honor.

16. University Honors next
If you have been an active part of the Honors College you can graduate with University Honors. CAFNR does not provide specific cords for this honor, but it will be announced when you walk across the stage at graduation.

17. Honors Ceremony go back
Students graduating with Latin, CAFNR(departmental) or University honors will receive an invitation to participate in the Honors Ceremony.
Invitations for the Honors Ceremony are ed out by the Registrar’s office.
The ceremony will be on December 16th at 8:30 am in Jesse Auditorium.
You have the option to nominate a faculty/staff/mentor who has been essential to your success at Mizzou. The nomination must be made prior to graduation. Look for more details in the Registrar’s .

18. Diplomas
Diplomas are mailed out weeks after the ceremony by the Registrar’s Office.
They will be sent to your permanent address in myZou.
If you need a letter verifying the completion of your degree prior to receiving your diploma, contact Laura Friedrich Allow a couple of days for processing.

21. MU Ag Alumni Association
As a student in the College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources, you became part of the CAFNR family the minute you stepped on campus. Now as you are graduating and looking toward the future, we hope that you will choose to continue to be part of the family by participating in activities and events planned just for you. Maybe you will want to participate in some of the annual events like the CAFNR Tiger Classic, the CAFNR Homecoming Tailgate or the CAFNR Unlimited. Or maybe your first job may make it hard for you to come back to campus for these events – if that is the case then maybe you will choose to participate in some regional events that are scheduled periodically throughout the country. Whatever your situation we hope that you will continue your relationship with the College.

22. MU Ag Alumni Association (Membership)
Membership in the Mizzou Alumni Association is a great way to stay connected with the University and your college, if you become a member of Mizzou Alumni Association you automatically become a member of the Ag Alumni Association as well.
