2 Volunteering Events Catholic Charities
Opportunity for mentoring/tutoring/working out with youth After school youth program May only volunteer anytime between 3:30-6:30 Mon.-Fri. not on weekends At least attend once a week for an hour, you may go as often during the week as you wish Print out, scan and these two forms to the Volunteer manager of Catholic Charities, Paul Stevens, at Background check form: 8/edit Volunteer form: dit Educational event days at Six Flags San Antonio May 1 & May 8 Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (S.T.E.M.) principles will come alive as students work through a variety of activities. TSPE may also participate in this event with SWE

Catholic Charities is hosting Valentines for Veterans at the American GI Forum  A special 2 hour event coming up next Friday February 13th There are tons of cookies and over 500 valentines cards made by school age children to be given to about 500 US Military Veterans. The event is from 9am to 11am. Volunteers are needed to come socialize with about 500 vets during this time. Many of them have no family and are forgotten during Valentine’s day. Expanding Your Horizons is a conference designed to introduce middle and high school girls to careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. This event is held each year at the University of the Incarnate Word. Volunteering Events Cont.  First Robotics is an nationwide organization aimed at inspiring K-12 youth into becoming scientists and engineers by giving them the opportunity to be involved in a robotics competition. The First Tech Challenge (FTC) is designed for (7-12 youth) who want to compete head to head using a sports model. Teams of up to 10 students are responsible for designing, building, and programming their robots to compete on a 12 X 12’ field in an Alliance format against other teams. This volunteering event serves as a networking program as there are many tech companies that are supporters and sponsors.  What better way to network then to volunteer along side corporate types in a program that fits their company mission and vision. Just to give you an idea, FIRST Robotics is supported by NASA, Texas Instruments, Lockheed Martin, CPS Energy Volunteers need to create an account in the FIRST volunteer system,

6 FIRST Robotics 70 teams have advanced from the SA, Austin, Laredo, Del Rio, and Corpus Christi based qualifiers who will compete on the Feb  Alamo FTC Championship.   FTC USA South Super Regional Championship will be held at Henry B. Gonzales Convention Center on March Luncheon with FIRST team members to be followed at FTC event March 12 at the convention center. Luncheon coordinator, wants SWE members at luncheon to be tableside mentors.

The Biomedical Engineering Society, as well offers its members e-mentoring with a professional biomedical engineer To become a member is $30 The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers as well offers its members e-mentoring with a professional electrical engineer Dues $16 and up depending on what type of membership requested
