2 CyberLab This Presentation The Applications The Product

3 CyberLab The Applications: Museums/Archives/Storage Rooms
Cultural heritage can be of national, regional or local importance All of them have symbolic, aesthetic, cultural, social, historical an monetary value that are frequently impossible to estimate. Preservation is therefore important Preservation is required indefinitely Specimens: Proben

4 CyberLab The Applications: Museums/Archives/Storage Rooms
Books and documents or parchments Works of art Historical artifacts Specimens of national history Examples of popular trade goods Technological accomplishments Films Specimens: Proben

5 CyberLab Factors with direct effect on the degradation of materials and objects Temperature Humidity Air Pollution (Particulate and Gas) Light (photochemical and photo physical changes) Pest Infestation (insects, mold, fungi, bacteria) Shock and Vibration (can damage sensitive objects) Natural Emergencies Building and mechanical design malfunction (water pipe failure,…) Theft and Vandalism (Access control,…) Pest infestation: Schädlingsbefall Mold: Schimmel

6 CyberLab Factors with direct effect on the degradation of materials and objects Temperature Heat damages paper and other material Heat can increase the reaction rate of pollutants with materials, change acidity and promotes microbiological activity. Temperature fluctuations cause alternate expand and contract. This then leads to cracking. Humidity Physical effects: Changes in size and shape Chemical effects: Chemical reactions (corrosion, fading of dyes) Biological effects: Biologic deterioration High Humidity: Metal corrosion, warping, splitting, bacterial growth… Low Humidity: Materials dry and shrink. Parchments and leather are subject to desiccation and embrittlement Fading of dyes : Ausbleichen von Farbstoffen Deterioration: Verschlechterung Warping: Verwerfungen Splitting: Spaltung Parchment: Pergament Dessication: Austrocknung Embrittlement: Versprödung

7 CyberLab The Applications: Laboratories Biological Chemical Physical
contain biologically active materials or involve the chemical manipulation of these materials Biochemistry, microbiology, cell biology, biotechnology, genomics, immunology, botany, pharmacology, toxicology Chemical Organic and inorganic synthesis and analytic functions Material and electronic science Physical Lasers, optics, nuclear material, high- and low temperature material, electronics, analytic instruments

8 CyberLab The Applications: Laboratories Control Parameters
Temperature, Humidity, Air Cleanliness Static Pressure Negative pressure to isolate hazardous or toxic operations Positive pressure for protective isolation of precious or delicate operations Air Motion, Air Distribution, Air Velocity Sound (Scientists at work) Time limited loads / Part Loads Lab‘s usually need precise cooling for „short“ periods (hours, days, weeks) Studies can be short or long term, with low or high heat load Economy/Efficiency HVAC is approx. 30% to 50% of the overall construction budget Opex: Lifetime is usually years -> Opex shall be low

9 CyberLab The Application: Air Changes per Hour
A major metric for these applications is the Air Changes per Hour - value The typical range is 6 to 12 ach CyberLab Air Volume: 6.000 m³/h Air Changes per Hour (ach) Room Volume [m³] Room room height [m²] Room room height [m²] 6 1.000 250 200 7 857 214 171 8 750 188 150 9 667 167 133 10 600 120 11 545 136 109 12 500 125 100

10 CyberLab The Needs Long term stable climate conditions for the valuable and sensible goods. Reliability Low operating cost

11 CyberLab CyberLab is a new, standardized, reliable and efficient solution for applications that need constant temperature and humidity conditions combined with a low or even no heat load generation. CyberLab is designed for applications such as Museums, Archives, Storage Rooms and Laboratories.
