Open Source Technical Support and Working Group Services for VA VistA Contract
March 21, 2017
5
Key Goals Advance community understanding and establish collaborative exploration of VA requirements Provide a visualization toolset to assist the community in understanding current VistA structure and interfaces Identify relevant candidate open source software and products for intake by VA “Tee up” these candidates for intake through analysis, prioritization, and certification
6
Impressions After Year 1
Intake is hard EPIP still oriented to support standardization Larger items require funding for testing and sustainment No real process for bug fixes (yet) Genuine support from both VHA and EPIP Turbulence as VA grapples with future strategy First year successful in establishing identification and prioritization process Year 2 will demonstrate real value of contract
7
Identifying Candidates for VA Intake
Open Source Software Repositories VHA Designated Items VA Class III Code CBA Package for Quarterly Review VA EPIP Open Source Search Analysis Intake Recommendations QUARTERLY IPR Intake Certification Technical Working Groups OIT PD
8
VHA Requirements Policy
VHA Policy to share unfilled requirements with the community Designates OSEHRA website as the official external repository for these requirements Currently exploring possibility of using ViViaN™ display these requirements Would use VA’s Business Function Framework as the organizing structure FedBizOpps announcement scheduled this week Working as quickly as we can! Looking to go live in late April or May
