1 PREECLAMPSIA AND SIMPLEX RETINOPATHY ASSOCIATED WITH EARLY SIGNS OF
BLOOD PRESSURE DISORDERS IN NORMOALBUMINURIC, DIABETIC WOMEN Finn Friis Lauszus, Hanne Soendergaard Jensen, Anni Rosgaard Dept of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Herning Hospital, Denmark

2 Aim and methods Diurnal ambulatory blood pressure (AMBP) in pregnant women with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) and in non-diabetic women was evaluated for its association with preeclampsia and retinopathy. 161 women were recruited for AMBP during pregnancy. The women were 50 non-diabetic women and 111 T1DM women with normoalbuminuria and no hypertension; 51 had simplex retinopathy. 20 of the diabetic women developed preeclampsia. Circadian rhythm was calculated as a night/day AMBP ratio.

4 Results and conclusion
Women with simplex retinopathy had higher night/day- ratio and lower birth weight than those without retinopathy. Women who developed preeclampsia had circadian rhythm similar to those with simplex retinopathy. In first trimester they had higher blood pressure than those who did not develop preeclampsia. Simplex retinopathy and preeclampsia are associated with a reduced circadian rhythm even with normal blood pressure.
