Over 50s risk damaging their health after turning to alcohol to cope with life difficulties such as retirement, bereavement and loneliness

Loneliness is a huge issue that affects older
people with over 1 million people aged 65 plus describing themselves as always or often feeling lonely. Research shows that loneliness has a similar impact on mortality as smoking 15 cigarettes a day.
