About The Safe Skies Academy
About The Safe Skies Academy “ Safe Skies” Where Dreams Take Flight is an International Aviation Career Academy sponsored and organized by The National Black Coalition of Federal Aviation Employees Northeast Region for students living in the continent of Africa specifically Lagos Nigeria. The idea of the Academy is to expose international students to careers in Aviation. The Academy first began in 2014 as a simple idea shared with five Nigeria based air traffic controllers. Three years later Safe Skies For Africa has blossomed into an annual event that has over 300 student participants and will continue to grow The Aviation Academy provides a broad exposure using career talks, airplane tours and activities simulated of the different aviation careers.. The week long event is aimed at raising awareness and interest of African students in aviation-related careers, with the hopes of developing future global leaders in aviation. In the past Aviation Education in Africa has been a priority for the FAA Africa Office and the Department of Transportation. Just as in the United States, Africa is facing high demands for qualified professionals in the aviation sector. The 2017 Safe Skies International ACE Academy will celebrated its 4th year in dates May, 1st to May 5th, 2017

2017 ACE Academy Details May 1st, May 5th, “ The 2017 ACE Academy will have approximately 100 eager student participants from public schools across Nigeria. We will work with the students over a 4 day period in groups to ensure they have the best experience learning careers in aviation from Air Traffic Controllers, Pilots. Engineers and Technical Operation Specialist . In addition there will also be a brief financial seminar for the students given by Sterling Bank which will talk to the students about the importance of securing their future from a financial stand point. For 2017 NBCFAE NE region will conduct a Book bag/ school supply drive to benefit the student participants in Nigeria for the 2017 Ace Camp. Ace Camp Volunteer Participants will hand out book bag filled with school supplies for each student participant for 2017.

Attendee/ Volunteer Requirement
On this trip to West Africa – Lagos Nigeria. It will stretch you out of comfort zones, and expand your mind. It will challenge boundaries and expose you to the real Africa. The aim of each trip to Nigeria is to promote a sense of adventure and international understanding while adding value to the country of Nigeria. A trip of this magnitude takes a strong commitment both financially and physically. As an attendee there are a few requirements If planning to attend you should be financially committed and willing to be compliant with deadlines. There are no financial sponsors for travel expenses. The trip will cost approximately $2800 You will need to have a valid passport that is valid for at least 6 months after your travel date. In addition you will need to take leave from work . Committed to serving as a volunteer with the academy, activities and planning
