2 How is BLUEcloud Analytics different from Director’s Station and WebReporter?
Director’s Station is on a local server with SwiftKnowledge software on the PC. Data is harvested overnight. Web Reporter is in the cloud, or locally hosted, and uses Microstrategy software to perform real-time data analysis. BLUEcloud Analytics is in the cloud, using Microstrategy 9 software to carry out both current and historical data analysis. BLUEcloud Analytics extracts all tables (including logs) from both Symphony and Horizon servers. Granularity Drag & drop, drill down and filtering features. View results on mobile devices BCA offers granularity - you see all elements of all tables that you decide to extract Distribution of data allows staff to view reports on mobile devices Multiple dashboards on the same data elements

3 Extract, Transform, Load
Extract, transform, load (ETL) process is fast and efficient, taking the initial data extract of all tables within minutes. Delta ETL is scheduled to run regularly throughout the day to extract modified data. Analytics combines this data into ‘cubes’ for immediate reporting. (e.g. loans, returns, new stock, withdrawn items, changes to user data). For example ETL may run every 15 minutes for near real-time data analysis and reporting. Each data cube contains built-in relationships between different data components, allowing you to compare, contrast, manipulate, and visualize your data in seconds. The cubes are refreshed automatically, letting you access timely data without waiting for reports to run.

4 Operational Data Store
Data Warehouse (Impala planned) SHIELD (protects & encrypts the data)

5 Functionality

6 What Can You Do? Decide which data elements to extract (e.g. exclude certain fields in user records). Import data from other databases (including Excel reports) Create, schedule and share reports Run a report then export the data or results out. Add data elements to an existing report, change the visualisation (e.g. pie chart, bubble chart, bar chart)

7 Dashboard

8 Example of Graph Visualisation
A user report can show how many patrons have used their library card within a specific time period

9 Example of a Catalogue List Report
A Catalogue report can produce a list of claims returned materials that staff can use for a shelf search

10 Lists Exported to Excel
Can also export as a PDF, send the data by etc.

11 Displaying Tables and Graphs in one Report
A Stat Summary Analysis report will show checkouts by the hour, day, day of the week, month and/or year

12 Multiple Dashboards BLUEcloud Analytics allows for multiple dashboards on the same data element

13 Bluecloud Analytics

14 Saving as Flash

15 Pilot Timelines Pilot Phase 1 is under way with Charlotte-Mecklenberg (Horizon), RSA and Westchester (Symphony) Pilot Phase 2 starts today (including Stanford University) Pilot Phase 3 starts on July 21st A ‘walking skeleton’ is being created right now. Checkouts tables extracted and cubes created then accessible by the pilot sites. Next Users table, MARC and catalogue tables rolled out in same way.
