Over 42% of the students in FSUSD are overweight or obese Coronary heart disease, stroke, and high blood pressure; • Type 2 diabetes; • Cancers, such as endometrial, breast, and colon cancer; • High total cholesterol or high levels of triglycerides; • Liver and gallbladder disease; • Sleep apnea and respiratory problems; • Degeneration of cartilage and underlying bone within a joint (osteoarthritis); • Reproductive health complications such as infertility; and • Mental health conditions. 1 in 10 Adults have diabetes 1 in 12 have heart disease, 25% higher than any other county in CA Solano has more fast food restaurants than any other county in CA, Missouri is the next closest state with more

Student Wellness Food Sold or Served During the School Day All food and beverages sold or served during the school day must meet USDA and state guidelines for nutritional and service requirements What is the school day? Defined as midnight to 30 minutes after the end of the regular school day Regulations apply to all entities on the campus: Teachers, Staff, Principals, PTO/PTA, Boosters, Parents No homemade food can be served. Only prepackaged food that is food safe and meets the nutritional guidelines

Student Wellness Food Sold or Served During the School Day Food Fundraisers cannot be advertised or sold at school during the school day No signage or assemblies on campus during the school day are allowed Handouts/order forms can be sent home with students The food for fundraising cannot be stored in the kitchen or refrigeration per Cal Code and the Health Department
