3 Grad Transitions & grad fees
Grad Transitions completion chart (on Student Services window) Check it out – what needs done. Students taking courses toward graduation must have those courses completed by June 1st Grad fees ($125) must be paid before receiving grad tickets. If the grad had poinsettia sales and/or test drive credits, the new amount owing is on the spreadsheet.

4 The Commencement Ceremony is for Graduates
Students must be graduating to participate, and if they have not met grad requirements, they will be excluded. Students need to meet ministry prescribed curricular requirements, including grad transitions. If your son/daughter is in jeopardy, you will have been contacted by their counsellor.

5 Bursaries The Bursary Reception is on June 5th. We will be giving out Group 1 bursaries (decided by Isfeld staff) and Group 2 bursaries (decided by the donor organization). Students getting bursaries will be invited to a pizza lunch on May 23 to meet and discuss protocol for this event. Counsellors will deliver the invites. Students must hand in a donor thank you letter to Student Services before getting their grad ceremony tickets.

6 JUNE PROVINCIAL EXAMS Fri, June 23 – 9am EN 12 Mon, June 26 – COM 12
Tue, June 27 – 9 am FRAL 12 Students may rewrite ONCE within the 12 month period following the first attempt at the exam. Must notify the office by end of day tomorrow if rewriting EN 12 or COM 12, FRAL 12 The Ministry of Education uses the BEST MARK. July 31st June exam results released to students.

7 We want your blood – May 23RD at Filberg Centre
Every year all high schools compete for a bursary in a blood donation challenge. Isfeld wins every year, except last year, which went to Vanier. We are determined to redeem ourselves Graduates over 17, and their parents, and their close and distant relatives, and any stranger willing to say Isfeld made them donate, will count toward our total. Drink water before you go. Eat breakfast and lunch. Bring your ID DONATE

8 Relay for Life – June 10th 6 pm to 6 am
The most important event of the year, and the most anticipated by the grads. This is a community event, not a Grad event. Grads need to be respectful of what this event means to cancer survivors and those still battling the disease. We have 15 grad teams, 3 parent teams & 2 staff teams. “Give Cancer the Boot” theme (Western) $ to the office or online. We’ve raised $9175 so far. PAC still accepting members.

9 Relay for life - WHAT TO EXPECT?
SET UP YOUR TENT STARTING AT 5 PM IN OUR DESIGNATED SPOT AT THE TOP END OF THE TRACK BRING: TENT, SLEEPING BAGS, BLANKETS, SNACKS, WATER, EXTRA CLOTHES, LAWN CHAIR, GAMES OPENING SPEECHES AT 5:45 PM, SURVIVOR’S VICTORY LAP AT 6:00 PM (ISFELD LINES THE TRACK TO HIGH FIVE SURVIVORS), THEN WE ALL JOIN . THERE WILL BE HEAD SHAVES, MUSIC, BOUNCY CASTLE, MUSICAL CHAIRS, LIP SYNC, ZUMBA, ETC LUMINARIES LIT AT DUSK AND LAP IN SILENCE, TO HONOUR AND REMEMBER LOVED ONES. LUMINARIES STAY LIT FOR THE REST OF THE NIGHT MIDNIGHT SNACK PROVIDED AND BREAKFAST AT 5:30 AM. ALSO FOOD TRUCK ON SITE SO BRING $ ONE MEMBER OF EACH TEAM ON THE TRACK AT ALL TIMES YOU CAN COME AND PARTICIPATE OR WATCH.

10 Tailgate Bar-b-que – WED May 31
Grad Relay teams organize and run this school-wide event Staff versus students hockey game Big Concession over lunchtime, which the whole school attends. Please send $$ with your son/daughter to buy lunch. Biggest Fundraiser for Relay for Life. We need parent helpers. Sign up sheet on wall.

11 Grad rehearsal tues June 27 at 4:30 pm
TAKES PLACE IN THE GYM NEED ALL GRADS TO ATTEND, COMPLICATED ENTRANCE AND EXIT TO GYM REVIEW WHAT HAPPENS AT THE CEREMONY, DISCUSS CAR PARADE AND AFTER GRAD. DECORATE CROWN ISLE – TUES JUNE 27TH – Time to be announced

12 GRAD DAY – Wed. June 28 Ceremony starts at 6:30 pm, doors open at 5:30 pm. Each grad gets 5 tickets (they don’t need a ticket). If we have extras, you can go on a list, but no guarantees. Notify the office for specialized seating/parking requirements. Support is available for those in financial hardship through the Prince Charming/Cynderella program via the school counsellor. Dry Grad really means NO alcohol, NO drugs. School staff run the Grad Ceremony, grad parents run the Dry After-Grad with admin help.

13 GRAD CAR CRUISE – WED JUNE 28TH DRIFTWOOD MALL
Two types of participants: 1) NEED A CAR – the local car clubs provide a car and driver. Grads signup in the office starting tomorrow. Grads pick their car based on best attendance. At a lunch meeting we show them pictures and they make their pick. They then call their driver and introduce themselves 2) HAVE A CAR – Grads signup with details in the office. Car needs to be in good shape

14 GRAD DAY WEDNESDAY, JUNE 28
3:30 pm Meet at the Driftwood Mall for the Classic Car Parade, 4:15 pm leave 5:00 pm Grads assemble in gym for a group photo, then go to Home Ec rooms to get appetizers & beverages, then grad cap and gown 5:30 pm Gym doors open, parents find seating 6:00 pm Grads line up in TA order 6:30 pm Commencement Ceremony begins at 6:30pm and will run to 8:00 ‘ish 8:30 pm Reception in the pods will follow in the location of grad’s homeroom 9:00 pm Grad/Parent dances (3 or 4 songs max) 9:30 pm Parents go home, Grads get bussed to Crown Isle 3:15 am Thurs. June 29 Parents pick up grads at Crown Isle
