4 Hype factor?

5 A hype cycle in Gartner's interpretation comprises five phases:
Technology Trigger — The first phase of a hype cycle where a breakthrough, public demonstration product launch or other event that generates significant press and interest. Peak of Inflated Expectations — In the next phase, a period of over-enthusiasm and/or a frenzy of publicity typically generates over-enthusiasm and unrealistic expectations. There may be some successful applications of a technology, but there are typically more failures. Trough of Disillusionment — Technologies enter the "trough of disillusionment" because they fail to meet the over inflated expectations and quickly become unfashionable. Consequently, media attention wanes and the press usually abandons the topic and the technology. Slope of Enlightenment — Although the press may have stopped covering the technology, some businesses continue through the "slope of enlightenment" and experiment to understand the true benefits and risks as well as the grow to understand the practical application of the technology. Plateau of Productivity — A technology reaches the "plateau of productivity" as the realistic benefits of it become widely demonstrated and accepted. The technology becomes increasingly stable as a growing number of organisations become comfortable with the reduced level of risk and the growth phase of adoption begins and evolves in second and third generations.

9 Classroom Experience "Using the Internet and YouTube with students was easy and simple - if I wanted to show them a website or clip while they were working on something else, I could pass the iPad around the room for them all to look at." "Marking the roll was easy and quick, and I could move around the room whilst doing it and therefore the flow of the lesson was not disrupted." "Humanities subjects in particular - checking facts or information whilst teaching was quick and I did not have to stop the lesson/move to the corner of the room to do so." "With connectivity to the smart boards/projectors, these capacities would only be enhanced."
