A Child is born Isaiah 9:2-7 The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light. They lived in a land of shadows, but now light is shining on them. 3 You have given them great joy, Lord; you have made them happy. They rejoice in what you have done, as people rejoice when they harvest their corn or when they divide captured wealth.
4
A Child is born 4 For you have broken the yoke that burdened them and the rod that beat their shoulders. You have defeated the nation that oppressed and exploited your people, just as you defeated the army of Median long ago. 5 The boots of the invading army and all their bloodstained clothing will be destroyed by fire.
5
A Child is born 6 A child is born to us! A son is given to us! And he will be our ruler. He will be called, “Wonderful Counsellor”, “Mighty God”, “Eternal (Everlasting) Father”, “Prince of Peace.” 7 His royal power will continue to grow; his kingdom will always be at peace. He will rule as King David’s successor, basing his power on right and justice, from now until the end of time. The Lord Almighty is determined to do all this.
6
A Child is born The angel on that first Christmas night said, “For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord” (Luke 2:11, NKJV). If we believe this, then it makes all the difference in the world for us. Life takes on a new dimension. (Billy Graham)
7
A Child is born God’s continues involvement in the world and its inhabitants can be seen through all the ages and still experience today. The prophecy of Isaiah did not end with the birth of Christ but it continues with Him forever and ever and ever…….. (Billy Graham)

A Child is born Wonderful Counselor Isaiah described Christ character
Jesus is Wonderful - much more amazing to the mind. Judges 13:18 Samson’s father, asked the LORD what His name was. The angel of the LORD responded, “Why do you ask my name, seeing it is wonderful?”
9
He is a Wonderful Counselor
He guides us in all truth He knows what we are going through, and He knows how to help. Hebrews 4:15 Our High Priest is not one who cannot feel sympathy for our weaknesses. On the contrary, we have a High Priest who was tempted in every way that we are, but did not sin.
10
16 Let us have confidence, then, and approach God’s throne, where there is grace. There we will receive mercy and find grace to help us just when we need it.
11
A Child is born Mighty God Hebrews 1:1-3 In the past, God spoke to our ancestors many times and in many ways through the prophets, 2 but in these last days he has spoken to us through his Son. He is the one through whom God created the universe, the one whom God has chosen to possess all things at the end.
12
A Child is born 3 He reflects the brightness of God’s glory and is the exact likeness of God’s own being, sustaining the universe with his powerful word. After achieving forgiveness for human sins, he sat down in heaven at the right- hand side of God, the Supreme Power.
13
Jesus is not a copy of God, He is God, He is the revelation of God to humanity. He is God stepping into the world to embrace us with His love and grace. John 1:1 In the beginning the Word already existed; the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
14
Philip said to Jesus: “Lord, show us the Father; that is all we need.”
9 Jesus answered, “For a long time I have been with you all; yet you do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. Why, then, do you say, ‘Show us the Father?’ (John 14:8-9)
15
A Child is born Paul reminded us on Jesus teachings about that Great, Mighty Power of God that is in us. Ephesians 6:10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might.
16
A Child is born Ephesians 1:18 I ask that your minds may be opened to see his light, so that you will know what is the hope to which he has called you, how rich are the wonderful blessings he promises his people, 19 and how very great is his power at work in us who believe. This power working in us is the same as the mighty strength 20 which he used when he raised Christ from death and seated him at his right side in the heavenly world.
17
A Child is born He is Eternal (Everlasting) Father
A child is born to us! A son is given to us! And he will be our ruler. Isaiah was living in Patriarchal society God is nor male or female
18
A Child is born Emphasis on Eternal (Everlasting)
God’s love and faithfulness is from generation to generation. “Eternal” (everlasting, endless) which has no beginning or end Psalm 90 puts it, “You have been our hiding place from all generations; from everlasting to everlasting you are God.”
19
A Child is born Prince of Peace
“Many people ask, “What is there to be merry about?” With wars and terrorism, crime at an all-time high, marriages breaking up, drugs—no wonder some people question whether we should say, “Merry Christmas!” (Billy Graham) What happened to the Peace promise of God?
20
A Child is born Christ our Prince of Peace said
John 16:33 I have told you this so that you will have peace by being united to me. The world will make you suffer. But be brave! I have defeated the world!”
21
A Child is born He also said: I am the vine, and you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will bear much fruit; for you can do nothing without me. (John 15:5) Paul wrote to the Galatians: But the Spirit produces love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, humility and self-control. (Galatians 5:22)
22
A Child is born Peace dwells in us through Christ in us. Without Him in you, your peace will be short- lived.
23
