12. Linear Exams
You will sit an exam in each of the 4 skills: speaking, writing, reading and listening.
Each exam is worth 25% of your final grade.
You will sit all four final exams at the end of Year 11 in the Summer Term.
GCSE French has a Foundation Tier (grades 1–5) and a Higher Tier (grades 4–9). Students must take all four question papers at the same tier.

13. Linear Exams
You will not complete any coursework therefore all your marks will be gained from your exams.
You will not be able to re-sit any of these exams.
These exams will test your knowledge on language from any of the topics you have studied over the 2 year course from the 3 main themes.
You will not know which topics will be on the exam beforehand.

16. New GCSE 2018
Your attitude to learning is going to be more important than ever before.
If you don’t start learning thoroughly NOW you will not be able to achieve the higher grades.
The exams are going to be demanding and you will need to know the foundations of the language extremely well to succeed in them.
You will be expected to revisit key language that you learn in lessons in your own time to ensure that you remember it well in Year 11 for your final exams.
