The periodic table is a list of all the known elements which are arranged according to the similarities in their properties. Non-metals are mostly on the right. 8 Metals are on the left and in the centre. Transition Metals

How Did He do it? He arranged elements in order of increasing Atomic Mass He put elements with similar properties into vertical columns – called ‘groups’ He arranged elements into rows called ‘periods’ He left gaps in his table for elements to be discovered
