The periodic table is a list of all the known elements which are arranged according to the similarities in their properties. Non-metals are mostly on the right. 8 Metals are on the left and in the centre. Transition Metals

5 Mendeleev TASK 1 Write down at least
3 things you have learnt about Mendeleev and his Periodic Table from the video.

6 How Did He do it? He arranged elements in order of increasing Atomic Mass He put elements with similar properties into vertical columns – called ‘groups’ He arranged elements into rows called ‘periods’ He left gaps in his table for elements to be discovered

7 Making Predictions Used gaps in the table to make predictions about properties of undiscovered elements For Example:
