Introduction: A little about myself.
Teaching Experience/Coaching (21 years teaching, 17th at Oak ). Graduated from UCSB Junior Lifeguard Instructor at the City of Huntington Beach (22 years). Husband- married for 16 years (Wife-Lisa) Father: Brendan 14 ½ years old and Alexis-12 year old Philosophy- trying to create self-reliant and well-balanced individuals. I want to provide you/your children with what I expect of my children’s teachers.

Expectations/Goals of Students
Come prepared for class and with an open mind. Bring the spiral notebook daily and review the information in it at least once a week. My tests come mostly from the notes/homework packets. Tests make up 40% of your grade. Develop self-discipline and organizational skills. Develop higher level thinking skills. This class is not about memorizing, but trying to figure out how events and people are interconnected. Become more worldly and understand that you have a role to play in the future. Realize that events happening around you do have an impact on your life. Respect of others!!!

Content Area for U.S. History: California Based Standards to direct our studies. Common Core Standards to develop higher level critical thinking. Types of Assignments 1. Cooperative groups (Individual and group grade- focus on the individual) 2. Research Projects/Presentations 3. Writing Assignments- Analysis and supportive reasoning, question of the day, point of view response, quick writes, compare and contrast, and reflective poetry. 4. Living History- Current Events (E.C. Opportunity- 2 per grading cycle).
