Steps to Success convert – to change from one form to another
mixed number – a whole number and a fraction improper fraction – a fraction larger than one whole; the numerator is larger than the denominator

Improper Fractions A fraction in which the numerator is greater than the denominator. They are BIG HEADED!! 8 = 4

Write the improper fraction:
Numerator.. How many parts do we have in total? 7 4 = Denominator.. How many parts as EACH whole been split into?

A mixed number has a part that is a whole and a part that is a fraction. They’re a bit mixed up! 3 1 = 4

CHANGE: A mixed number to Improper Fraction
Multiply the whole number by the denominator Add your answer to the numerator Put that number on top of the denominator 1 5 2 = 2 2 The denominator always stays the SAME!
