4 DPDK Mini Summit DPDK is a set of software libraries which accelerate data plane applications running on general purpose CPUs. It’s a multi-vendor, open source project hosted by The Linux Foundation. It helps to realize NFV in the following ways: By significantly improving network I/O performance for both NFVI and VNFs. By providing a common data plane API that supports all major CPU architectures and NIC vendors. By supporting Service Assurance capabilities, including exporting of statistics and monitoring of DPDK processes.
