Meditation is … “Meditation is a precise technique for resting the mind and attaining a state of consciousness that is totally different from the normal waking state. It is the means for fathoming all the levels of ourselves and finally experiencing the center of consciousness within.”

Simply start by sitting still for two minutes Do it first thing each morning Don’t get caught up in the how - just do Count your breaths Come back when you wander in thought Fully commit yourself to making this a habit Find a community!

How Do You Know if You Are Meditating?
Your mind is clear, relaxed and inwardly focused You are fully awake and alert, but your mind is not focused on the external world or the events surrounding you Your inner-state is still so your mind has become silent Your mind is silent and no longer distracting you

Meditation Increases Grey Matter
Men and women who meditate nearly 40 minutes a day showed that their brains had thicker cortical walls than non-meditators This means that their brains were aging at a slower rate, and also had positive influences in decision making, memory and attention

A study tested college students on on their alertness after either sleeping, meditating or watching TV The results showed that the meditators had a higher rate of alertness than those who slept or watched TV by 10%

Based off a study by Wake Forest University, meditation can reduce pain intensity by 40% and pain unpleasantness by 57% This compares to morphine and related drugs that reduce pain by only 25%
