Writing them is always an encouragement to me. Like everyone else, I have good days and not-so-good days, and it reminds me that, even if the daily details can be discouraging, God is at work. And what a privilege it is to work for Him! But if you are a believer, you work for Him too. I encourage you to step out in faith, share the Gospel, and watch Him work! Outreach Highlights – Some highlights from last month Downtown San Jose – A Quiet/Busy Morning – After a last minute schedule change that prevented an evening outreach, I headed to downtown San Jose, which is often very slow during the day. But God used the time! I did not preach, but had conversation after conversation, and many tracts went out. It was a good reminder that God will use us if we are faithful, no matter where we are! Santa Cruz – Michael and Wiley – I think sometimes we give up on people to easily. When Bryan and I started talking to Michael and Wiley, they were pretty hostile to the Faith, believing Christianity to be empty and silly. But with a little time and patience, both softened, and when they left an hour later they thanked us for the talk and took literature. God can soften even the hardest hearts! Morgan Hill Fourth of July Parade – Yes, this is a July event, but I wanted to mention it sooner rather than later. Summer time provides some of the best outreach opportunities, and the Morgan Hill Freed Fest Parade is one of the best we have. I’ve been handing out tracts there for eight years now. I’m able to hand out well over a thousand every time, and some of the people recognize me now. This year I had a great conversation with four Mormon missionaries. Usually I just pack my bag full of holiday tracts and leave my other literature at home so I have more space. This was the first time I didn’t do that, and I had just enough Mormon tracts for the missionaries. God is good! They took business cards too. Please pray they contact me. I was about ¾ of the way around the route when they caught up.

Pride, and the fear that follows it, cause us to worry about the opinions of others, and can keep us from sharing the Gospel in the first place. But it can also cause us to share it wrongly, and to focus too much on “winning” the conversation, usually through intellectual arguments. But the GOSPEL is the power of God unto salvation. God certainly uses good arguments in the process of drawing people to Himself, but the arguments are never the ultimate cause of change, and the questions we answer should never be seen as the main issue. Evangelism is always about the heart first, not the head. People reject God because they love their sins, so we need to make sure our pride doesn’t cause us to focus more on winning than on prayer and trusting God’s Spirit. An important goal is to focus on the use of the law of God. Regardless of what someone’s religious background is, there is a knowledge of God’s moral law that is hard-wired into each one of us. Many will deny that is true, but I’ve seen the evidence in many hundreds of conversations. Even the most hardened atheist will say there is no absolute morality one moment, and then claim God is a moral monster the next. They declare there is no moral law, but can’t live life consistently that way. So use evidence if needed, but be sure to always circle back to the law. We all know we have sinned, and it’s the reality of sin that will show people their need for the savior. Praise and Prayer : We had our first neighborhood kids club meeting recently, and are hoping to work toward weekly meetings. We’ll be visiting the same neighborhood this Saturday, and I’m hoping to meet with another pastor about a club at or near his church. Please pray God blesses these, and that we can transition them into weekly ministries, and that we will have the volunteers to keep them going. Our home church has supported us from the beginning, but we really need to partner with more churches in the neighborhoods where our street ministry is focused. Pray God provides those connections. God seems to be providing new opportunities, and we want to make use of them. Pray God continues to bless our weekly outreaches, and that we see more souls come to know Him.
