1 The temperate Deciduous Forest

2 What is The Deciduous forest?
The temperate deciduous forest biome is characterized by its leaf-shedding trees and its seasons. This biome experiences all four seasons. The temperate deciduous forest biome is located in the United States, Canada, Europe, China, Japan, and a small part of Australia. The deciduous forest biome has five zones.

3 Map of Temperate deciduous forest

4 Precipitation, Temperature, And Plant adaptations
Average Annual Precipitation: 30 to 60 inches of rainfall per year Average Annual Temperature: The average annual temperature is 50° F Plants Adaptations: Leaning towards the sun, and soaking up nutrients from the ground.

6 Unique adaptations of animals
The animals adapt to the climate by hibernating in the winter and living off the land in the other three seasons. The animals have adapted to the land by trying the plants in the forest to see if they are good to eat for a good supply of food.

8 Things You would need if you visited the s.eastern us deciduous forest
Winter: If you are planning to go during the winter season you should plan on dressing in layers like heavy jackets, turtle necks, long sleeve shirts, jeans ,and snow boots. Summer: If you plan on going in the summer you will want shorts and short sleeve shirts during the days. Flip- flops are another need during this time as well as tennis shoes in case you go hiking as one of you activities. Fall and Spring:  If you plan to vacation during this time you will need warm clothes than most places for these seasons. Jeans, capris or leggings will work for this time of year and short sleeved shirts too. The type of shoes you would need include flats, boots, or tennis shoes.

Located near the equator

10 Impact of Physical environment
Temperature: Certain temperatures allow for certain animals, plants, fungi, and bacteria to live productively and comfortably. A change in temperature could cause organisms that are important to that ecosystem to die off or migrate. Precipitation: Precipitation is important for the deciduous forest to maintain a stable amount of plant growth that is available for consumers to eat, and important to have enough drinking water. Soil pH: Each plant within the Deciduous Forest Biome requires a certain pH or percent hydrogen within their soil to grow and develop. If the soil pH is changed, then some plant species will become obsolete and new species will become prominent.

11 Impact of location, climate, physical characteristics, natural resources, and population distribution Location: A lot of people live in the Deciduous Forest, so they cut down trees to build homes for themselves causing many animals to not have homes. Climate: It gets cold, hot, and humid so the plants and animal have adapted to this climate in the Deciduous Forest. Physical Characteristics: The Appalachian Mountains cross through the Deciduous Forest in North America, there could be animals that live in the mountains that usually do not live the Deciduous Forest. Natural Resources: The distribution of natural resources like trees give homes to animals like squirrels, chipmunks, and birds. Population Distribution: Population Distribution decides where certain animals will live. For example, a family of eagles would live in a tree and a family of opossums would live in or near a bush or shrub.

12 Environmental issues Deforestation: Since many people live in the Deciduous Forest they cut down trees to make homes for themselves to live in taking homes away from animals that live in and around trees. Forest Fires: Natural fires destroy many trees, and animals lose their homes. Lightning usually causes natural fires. Air Pollution/ Acid Rain: When people use cars and factories emit smoke in the air it causes acid rain. When it rains the acid inside the raindrops goes inside trees and destroys them.

13 Did you Know ? The Deciduous Forest yields a lot of fruits and vegetables. The tallest of all trees that grow in a temperate deciduous forest biome is the Sequoia. They can be up to 275 feet tall. Almost all the animals in the Deciduous Forest utilize some form of camouflage.
