Public Institution Institute for Urbanism, Civil Engineering and Ecology of Republic of Srpska (Institute) was registered in September This is a joint firm created of two institutions: PI Institute for materials and construction testing and of PI New Urbanistic Institution. Institute for Materials and Construction Testing was established in Banja Luka in 1972, while the Urbanistic Institute was established also in Banja Luka in 1961.
Decades of successful operations, performed a series of capital projects and profiling superior engineering staff united in the Institute - a unique professional institution which counts 130 employees who can professionally respond to all market demands in the field of spatial planning, design, urban planning, environmental protection, materials testing, certification of building products , energy efficiency demands and other related activities.
Institute’s Main building is at 16 Save Mrkalja St.
in Banja Luka

INSTITUTES FIELD OF ACTIVITY
The Institute has all the licenses for carrying out activities for which it is registered in the Republic of Srpska, District of Brčko and part of entity of Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Licenses are for: -Preparation of technical documentation, revision of technical documentation and construction supervision
-Development of strategic spatial planning documents
-Execution of geodetic works
-Performing of geological exploration, preparation and revision of geological document.
-Environmental protection works
-Verification/audit of traffic safety
-Performing of the energy audit of the buildings
-Testing of metal constructions by destructive/non-destructive methods on energy plants as well as check up of the pressure vessels/equipment.
-Accreditation certificate for the central laboratory according to ISO/IEC standard.
-Issuing certificates of confromity for construction products.
-Issuing of technical approval documents for different groups of construction products.

Institute can follow up the entire investemnet from the begginnig till its finished.
Institute can be engaged as partner or main partner in the area of strategic planning, infrastructure, ecology, energy efficiency, strenghtening of the capacity of the local area.
Institute can play key role for development of documentation basis in the border areas for the purpose of planning according to Spatial Plan.
The Institute was selected as the institution that will carry out activities related to developing and updating national spatial data infrastructure.
Institute can support and follow up the measures for the development of the cross border areas by preparing the strategies of cross border cooperation, educational programs for local authorities, citizens etc.
