Provides standard functionalities
Can be combined with a PC (click to call)
Microsoft firmware – ensured support from Lync servers and with updates on PC

5. Why to change? We want more buttons!
Transferring the calls requires pressing several buttons
It’s not possible to customize a phone
Phones supported only with Lync/Skype for Business server

We recommend to use a softphone whenever it’s possible
Windows and Mac
Use a headset
There are plans to decomission Alcatel phone system
All analogue/digital phones migrated to VoIP technology
Softphone will be the recommended solution

Encourage people in your department to use it
Ask them to register to 1 hour presentation in CERN Training catalogue “Skype for Business – click to call and collaborate with others”
Send us feedback when softphone can’t be used
Ask people to fill the survey about the phone system
