Summarise earthquake hazards and how they impact on evacuation decision making Script If there is an earthquake: stay If there is an earthquake and people are injured: look after yourself before helping others If there is a post-earthquake fire: evacuate If you are in a tsunami zone: try to go to a higher floor (tsunami safe zone) If your building is severely damaged: evacuate Q: What if you can’t evacuate the building? A: You may be trapped in the building for several days – importance of food and plenty of water A: Try and gain access to the roof to signal for help/rescue Consider the weather before evacuating – it may be safer to stay in the building until the weather clears before walking home Remember: the building is unlikely to collapse! w
