Selective places: - reserved for pupils with highest test scores Specialist places: -reserved for pupils with aptitude in Music/language/ICT Faith schools: - reserved for children demonstrating commitment to faith e.g baptised/attend place of worship

Application Process Complete one form for your home borough
Apply for up to 6 schools in any borough Rank the schools in order of preference Order of preference is very important Applications are passed between boroughs and sent to the appropriate schools

Types of Tests 11+ - test taken at 11 used to allocate a school place (state/grammar) Wandsworth test – 11+ test used in Wandsworth schools Common entrance – test used for independent school (Usually consist of Verbal, non-verbal reasoning, English, maths) SATs – national tests set by the government taken in Year 6 to evaluate your child’s educational progress whilst at primary school (not used to allocate a school place)

What is the Wandsworth Test?
Sat by all children in Wandsworth schools A few schools use highest test scores to allocate selective places - Burntwood, Ernest Bevin, Graveney A few schools use scores from all abilities to allocate places (banding) - Ashcroft, Chesnut Grove

High scores only needed for a selective place at: Graveney Burntwood Ernest Bevin

Takes place in school in September Year 6

Looking ahead - Year 5 Some schools have open days this term – look at the school websites. Try to visit End of this term there is some practise in school (verbal and non verbal reasoning)

Looking ahead- Year 6 Early Sept: ‘choose a Wandsworth school’ booklet sent home outlining open days and information about each school Visit schools again during open days Test practise in class Mid Sept: All children sit Wandsworth test Oct: Test outcomes (may help inform decision process) Late Oct: submit application form to your local borough March: 1st School offers received

Independent Schools More subjective process - interviews, references, school reports, auditions are used to decide places You will need to let Belleville know you are applying so references can be prepared You need to let specialist teachers know if you are planning to apply for a subject specific scholarship Research the process involved, look at past papers and provide ensure your child is prepared for the tests
