Conclusion I The Universidade NOVA de Lisboa develops its education in a challenging operational context, where the financial scarcity faced by the entire Portuguese higher education sector allows little flexibility for the university to expand its educational offer or change its teaching and learning methods in a resource-intensive way. Conclusion II However, the team feels that significant changes towards student-centered directions can be achieved with small resources. Key to student-centered learning lies in fostering a culture of dialogue between students and teachers and facilitating students to become autonomous learners who are able to take responsibility for their own learning.
