Roles of GAO in student exchange includes but not limited to the following: Act as the hosting office of some of the university-wide exchange and international programmes; Promote all university-wide exchange and international programmes in UM; Provide students with source and support to international opportunity; Encourage mobility of students; Oversee the implementation of the student exchange programmes in UM.

5 Exchange Programmes - University of Brasilia, Brazil
The University of Brasilia (in Portuguese: Universidade de Brasilia, often abbreviated as UnB), is one of the largest and most prestigious Brazilian public universities funded by the Brazilian federal government. It is located in the country's capital, Brasilia. Website: Details of programme: Courses for selection (For reference only): No. of quotas per semester: 3 Required year of study: Year 2 or above Language proficiency: Portuguese Exchange period: Mid August - Mid December, 2012 (Semester 1, 2012/2013) Suggested duration of exchange: 1 Semester Application deadline: 2 March 2012

The University of Seoul is a public university funded and supported by the Seoul Metropolitan Government. Seoul is the economic, political, and cultural center of Korea. It is also the 600-year capital of Korea, a historical city with social, cultural, and physical layers spread out along a vast and complex landscape. Temple University is a public, comprehensive high research activity institution with top-ranked programs in business, psychology, art and medicine. Located in the historic and culturally active Philadelphia, the 6th largest city in America, Temple is among the largest and most diverse universities in the nation. Visiting Student Researcher and Post Doctoral Affairs Program Encourage the exchange of UM master students. At UC Berkeley, the student will obtain the status of Visiting Student Researcher in the Visiting Student Researcher and Post Doctoral Affairs Program.  The student will audit classes at Berkeley and may take up to four courses per semester at Berkeley.

Committee for Outgoing Exchange Grant has been set up for the purpose of … Promoting mobility of students Enriching students’ international exposure and experience Encouraging students with good academic standing Subsidizing students with financial needs

14 Eligibility & Assessment method
Participate in regular credit-bearing exchange programme at undergraduate level offered in UM; Duration of exchange:1 semester to 1 year; Full-time UM students who are eligible of applying for regular undergraduate exchange programme can apply for this Grant; The exchange programmes should be initiated or planned by UM either at U-level or Faculty-level; Exchange programmes that is initiated by students or co-organized with 3rd party institution will NOT be included in this Grant. Applicant is required to achieve at least two-thirds of the full time credit equivalence in host university in order to receive the full grant; Minimum cumulative GPA requirement: 2.50; Successful applicants can only apply for the Grant ONCE in each academic year. 18 Max. Amount of Grant (MOP)
Funding Criteria This Grant is aimed to partially cover the student, during his/her exchange period, the following expenses: Round-trip air ticket and other modes of transportation between Macao / Hong Kong / home city and Host University on arrival and departure dates Medical/Health/Travel Insurance Accommodation during exchange Other mandatory fees and charges imposed by Host University Maximum amount of Grant per semester will vary according to destination countries or regions as per the table shown below: *Table of max. amount of grant provided for each zone for one semester Destination Countries / Regions Max. Amount of Grant (MOP) Zone 1 Americas (South, North and Central) and Europe $ 20,000 Zone 2 Oceania (Australia and New Zealand) and Africa $ 17,000 Zone 3 Japan and South Korea $ 12,000 Zone 4 Asia (except for Japan and South Korea) $ 9,000

19 Grant allocation & penalty system
Academic achievement Grant Allocation Applicant successfully achieves at least two-thirds of full credit equivalence of Host University Receive full amount of Grant Applicant achieve at least one-third but less than two-thirds of full credit equivalence of Host University Receive 50% of the amount of Grant Applicant fails to achieve one-third of full credit equivalence of Host University Will not be subsidized Withdrawal before / during exchange period Exceptional case will be considered by the Outgoing Exchange Grant Committee on individual basis

Application Submission: 13 February – 30 March 2012, 10am-12pm and 3pm-5pm on working days only Application Guideline and Forms can be downloaded in GAO Website: Late or incomplete applications will not be considered May/Jun: Release of Results Successful applicants will be informed via in late May Unsuccessful applicants will be informed via in June Jan 2013: Disbursement Arrangement Disbursement will be made upon successful completion of exchange after receiving the required receipts of the applicant Applicants of Type 1 – Financial Hardship can apply for Advancement (50% of the max. amount of grant)

21 Consultation Session Consultation
If you have any doubts on Exchange and/or Outgoing Exchange Grant, you are welcome to the consultation session every week. Registration can be made in front of Global Affairs Office, Tai Fung Building M Floor Room TM1. The upcoming consultation sessions in February will be: 17 February 2012 (Friday), 10:30 am - 12:30 pm 24 February 2012 (Friday), 10:30 am – 12:30 pm 29 February 2012 (Wednesday), 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm **The consultation schedule will be announced in Bulletin regularly** Please register at least one day before the consultation session.
