1 Role of Chairman – Applicant 1
Lenny Hagland (Islington Boxing Club) – Relevant Experience & Skills I have the experience of being chairman of Islington Boxing Club for the past 6 years having only recently (July) stepped down to allow somebody else to have their turn. I have been working closely with the interim steering group who have been running London Boxing since its inauguration and have gained valuable insights. I understand the necessity to work closely with Regional Secretary, Treasurer and Welfare Officer and provide support to all. I am experienced in working with potential stakeholders and partners through my role with IBC and I am comfortable in Chairing meetings and AGM’s and agreeing agenda for those meetings.

2 Role of Chairman – Applicant 1
Lenny Hagland (Islington Boxing Club) – Brief description of why you believe you are suitable for this role: Because of my previous experience as a chairman of a club I believe that this role would suit my abilities. I believe that the way forward as a region is to be transparent in all the workings of the regional committee and would do my upmost to make sure we adhere to this. I have been in boxing for 41 years, serving as a boxer, coach, committee member and manager of my club. Pretty much everything within a club structure. I believe I have good listening skills and can communicate well with others but also clear on the sense of direction that the region wants and needs to move in. The ability to inspire those whom I work alongside and lead others is I feel paramount to this position and I would be confident of doing this well and to instil the confidence that stakeholders/partners like to see whilst giving off a positive outlook at all times for London and England Boxing.

5 Role of Chairman – Applicant 2
Terry Gillam (Nemesis ABC) – Brief description of why you believe you are suitable for this role: I have been actively involved in the boxing since 1960, and have held senior positions with a number of successful clubs and on a range of committees, helping to manage the sport at the highest level. My particular love is grass roots boxing and especially the involvement of young people – I believe in the role our sport has to play in their development. My seniority brings not experience and the time to commit to the sport, as well as an overview of the problems and events affecting it. I do understand the need for change and was asked to help with the temporary administration of London until the situation settles. I am convinced that a mix of what is good about the old and positive about the new is best for boxing. I am someone who will speak their mind and stand up for what I believe in – which has always been the sport of boxing, the welfare of the boxers, and the success of the clubs. This honesty has not always made me popular, but I am not able to be otherwise. I am fair and direct. I am happy to share my expertise gained over the years, and in particular feel I could positively contribute to boxing in London as Chairman.
