Success Criteria: GREEN: I will be able to recognise what clothing Anglo Saxons wore. YELLOW/BLUE: I will identify why Anglo Saxons wore particular clothing. RED: I will be able to identify the differences in regional styles of Anglo Saxon clothing. .

Men wore tunics, with tight trousers or leggings, wrapped around with strips of cloth or leather. Women wore long dresses. Women spun the wool from sheep and goats to make thread.

Clothing styles were different in each kingdom. Anglian woman fastened her dress with a long brooch. A Saxon woman used a round brooch. These clothes were made out of natural fibres like wool, flax (linen) and cotton. We still use these fibres today to make clothes but back in those days, they were the only types of material available to everyone.

8 Main task 2: Creative learner
Using the images you have seen today to design yourself an outfit to wear to an Anglo-Saxon party. Colour this in and stick it in to your book. Extension Task: Label different parts of your outfit and write a few sentences to explain why you have designed this particular outfit for the party. 20 min

9 Plenary: Design a second paper doll, dressed in typical UAE clothing.
TTYP: What are the similarities and differences between both dolls? Add your Anglo-Saxon figure to your village.
