2 The Local Chapter of the Harley Owners Group
Are You A H.O.G.? Become a Member of The Local Chapter of the Harley Owners Group So, you bought the bike, spent an hour picking out new leather, a great helmet, and cool boots. Now what? Well now you ride, ride, and ride some more. How you ride, where and when you ride, and with whom you ride are all choices you have to make. But you would be doing yourself a disservice if you didn’t consider becoming a member of the local chapter of the Harley Owners Group (HOG), the Fort Washington HOG Chapter. You are now after all, an official Harley-Davidson owner! Why not join your fellow owners pursing our official motto, Riding and Having Fun? That’s what we do, that’s who we are; a family-oriented Harley-Davidson riding club. We are not a motorcycle club! We meet once per month and have planned rides or activities on nearly every weekend during the riding season for you to choose from. We do short, mid-range, and long-distance rides and we throw in a few 2 -3 day rides as well. We enjoy an annual picnic, a chapter party, lots of eating venues, as well as interaction in the like activities of our sister chapters throughout the region. Bring your wife, your husband, your children or relatives, it’s all good with us. The purchase of your Harley-Davidson motorcycle already bought you a free first year membership in the National Harley Owners Group; which you must belong to in order to join any of the local HOG chapters. Joining this chapter will cost you a first year fee of $20 and $15 per year thereafter. You can have all the fun and privileges of being a member of the Fort Washington HOG Chapter. Take some time and think about it, but do think about it. Read through this New Member’s Brochure in its entirety. Then, reach out to one of our primary officers whose photos and contact information appear on the next page. We would love to see you at our next meeting, just attend and see how much you want to join after hanging out with us for a couple of hours. Or, come on a ride with us before you join, you can do that too! Whatever you decide to do - Ride Safe!!

3 Harley Owners Group (Chapter 3559)
Fort Washington Chapter Harley Owners Group (Chapter 3559) 9407 Livingston Road Fort Washington, MD Dear New Member: Welcome to the Fort Washington, MD Chapter of the Harley Owners’ Group. I, and the rest of the chapter officers and members, are delighted that you have made the decision to be a part of our extended Fort Washington H.O.G. family. As a new member you likely have a number of questions about our Chapter, whether or not you have previously been a member in another H.O.G. Chapter. This New Member Brochure was designed to serve as your “getting started” guide to the particulars of this Chapter. The official H.O.G. objective and slogan is “To Ride and Have Fun.” My goal is to make sure this Chapter provide you with the opportunities to achieve that objective. It is my desire that this chapter provides you with enough opportunities to ride so that your wheels off, and that we can provide you with enough fun such that you ask us to stop! I not only hope you will take advantage of as many of our Chapter’s activities as you can, I also hope that you let me and the rest of the officers know how to make this Chapter even better. We are a well-established Chapter, having celebrated our 25th anniversary in Most of our members live in Maryland, Virginia, or Washington, DC, and we have approximately 300 members overall. We hold Chapter meetings once per month; the dates/times for the entire year are shown on Page 5. All meetings are held in the H.O.G. Room at our sponsoring dealership, Harley-Davidson of Washington, DC, the address is in the letterhead above. Besides our meetings, we use several methods to communicate with our members and to keep them informed. Principal among these methods is our website, There is a wealth of information about the Chapter on the website; please visit it as soon as you can, and visit often. Our goal is to provide our members with a website that represented the chapter’s interests and the chapter’s members, allow easy, yet secure access to chapter and member data, and provided members with a one-stop-shop for locating information about any chapter activity, historical record, event photograph(s), etc.

4 Harley Owners Group (Chapter 3559)
Fort Washington Chapter Harley Owners Group (Chapter 3559) 9407 Livingston Road Fort Washington, MD We publish and electronically distribute a quarterly Chapter newsletter, The Fort Report. The newsletter is more focused on the immediate past/future, but can contain information on any Chapter-relevant event. Our website contains all of the information that is in the Fort Report. Check the Calendar often for the latest happenings. We have a weekly scheduled Chapter Social at various local restaurants, so come out and join us. Nothing fancy, just good food and conversation. The schedule is on the Calendar. On at least a weekly basis, sometimes more than once per week, we send out an information called a HOG Announce. The HOG Announce is a good way to quickly alert everyone about breaking information that concerns chapter interests. We also use the HOG Announce to keep members abreast of noteworthy dealership activities such as special sales, changes to their hours of operation, etc. That was a very quick introduction to the chapter, I hope you have enough information to get started. If not, you have a lot of names, s, and photographs of the officers which you can use to contact us to answer any of your questions. Let me leave you with this thought; most of our experiences in life are what we make of them. If you get involved, if you participate in chapter meetings and events – you’re going to enjoy yourself and have a rewarding experience. With roughly 300 members, we have as many opinions on what is a good ride, a good restaurant, a good charity, or a good event. Our annual calendar of activities provides a very diverse set of H.O.G. experiences. No one likes them all and no one dislikes them all. If you see a void and there is something specific you would like to see the chapter do or get involved in, and is in sync with our H.O.G. charter, then by all means let the officers know. We will give you every opportunity to jump in and plan and execute the activity, and we will show you how to plan and lead your event. Thank you again for joining our Chapter. I look forward to seeing you at the meetings, on the rides, and during our non-riding activities. I sincerely hope your experience with us is a great one for you and your family. Please feel free to reach out to me or any of the officers, any time. Dave Harrelson Director, 2016 Fort Washington, MD H.O.G. Chapter
