2 VISION At Edison Regional Gifted Center, we strive to meet the academic and social needs of our diverse population of gifted and academically advanced students through an integrated and authentic curriculum, differentiated instruction, the use of technology, and partnership within the community.  We envision an environment of excellence and equity realized through cooperation, collaboration, and mutual respect among all stakeholders: students, parents, teachers, administration, and community. We develop strategies to help the teachers and parents meet the unique needs of our gifted learners by creating a positive school culture and a climate that fosters collaboration.  We foresee that through our focus on the whole child, our students will assume ownership of their learning, become culturally sensitive citizens in our global community, develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills, pursue higher education and continue to be life-long learners.

3 CIWP PRIORITIES & STRATEGIES 2016-2018
Culture of & Structure for Continuous Improvement: Leadership & Collective Responsibility If we… create a model for shared leadership and collective responsibility through an attendance strategy (example: support families by encouraging attendance as a priority and creating shared expectations together) Then we’ll see… that this model can be replicated (example: that students are motivated to attend school and families schedule any planned non-attendance days with the CPS school schedule in mind) Which will lead to… improvement in the SEF score in the area of Leadership & Collective Responsibility and improved scores within the Five Essentials-Effective Leaders, Collaborative Teachers. Expectations for depth & breadth of Quality Teaching: Multi-Tiered System of Support CIWP: Continuous Improvement Work Plan (created every two years by the CIWP committee) Then we’ll see… teachers will develop a bank of strategies to modify instruction (aligned with Best Practices)and assessments, and implement MTSS with fidelity Which will lead to… recognizable individual/collective NWEA growth and gains, and measurable individual student progress while improving early identification of twice-exceptional students, development of effective IEPs and supportive MTSS plans. If we… support teacher teams with differentiation resources and professional development Expectations for Quality & Character of School Life: Relational Trust If we… support our school community with SEL-minded programs/projects, targeted initiatives and partnerships Then we’ll see… that all members of the Edison school community exemplify supportive, warm and truly caring interactions, Which will lead to… a collaborative, social-emotionally strong, and trusting school environment shared by all stakeholders as evidenced by the Five Essentials.

4 EDUCATING THE WHOLE CHILD: CHARACTER
Our kindergarten lead schoolwide recognition of World Kindness Day in partnership with APMA middle school students. Our 6th grade students began the Beard Partners in Play program this week. Each month, they’ll spend time interacting with Beard students. Middle School Peace Projects

Consistently ranked among CPS’ highest performing schools Combined 3rd-8th Grade NWEA Assessment CPS ranking: 1st in reading, 2nd in math Level 1+ rating

10 HIGH SCHOOL ENROLLMENT
26 to selective enrollment, 0 to magnet, 1 to contract, 3 to neighborhood, 1 out of state We don’t have data from previous years because it wasn’t tracked at the school level. We aren’t able to get it from high schools because of FERPA law (we tried!) so we’re going to track it at the school level from here on out.
