WP4 Training schemes - Goals
Extension of the possibilities for the universities to conduct the study in real working conditions and using real equipment; Wider usage of the available resource base of the specialized training centers; Time reduction to provide specialized training after possible employment of the young specialist in a nuclear facility. There is a strong need for high level training of young specialists in the nuclear sector. Major industrial organisations have the means, both in terms of expertise and finance, to hire young engineers and to train them for the specific duties, through a combination of in-house programmes, training courses available on the market, and, not to be neglected, on-the-job training. Training shall follow the education and universities can therefore play a key role in training, along with industry. Here also synergies would be beneficial, on the basis of well defined and agreed requirements. The development of close cooperation with the training organizations/universities, creating employees for the nuclear field and the “transfer” of some academic study to working environment will provide: (see slide) The EU CORONA Project meets these challenges through development and implementation of training scheme for specialized training of students, joining the efforts of various players in the nuclear field, the project partners MEPhI, Kozloduy NPP, INRNE, Risk Engineering, etc. BNS Annual conferеnce "Nuclear Power for People", September 2013, Sunny Beach, Bulgaria
7
WP4 Training schemes - Purpose
using different forms of training to enhance and overbuild the knowledge obtained in educational institutions to create enough competences of students for successful activity in nuclear branch to create adequate attitude and understanding of the safety aspects of nuclear power This shall be achieved through transfer of specialized knowledge on operation regimes, radiation protection; RAW management; fuel management; nuclear safety; safety analyses to the students, and at the same time to create skills related to the specific equipment, systems and processes. Structure of training program and related training materials
Part 1. Common basic courses: acquiring (in some cases, for restoring and/or updating) basic general knowledge and competencies needed for successful future activity at nuclear dangerous facilities Part 2. Two-step educational process on two consecutive training cycles; Special nuclear knowledge; basic general propositions about contemporary VVER technologies and some applications of nuclear technologies Part 3. Advanced Training in VVER-technology: analysis and simulation of different aspects related with safety of VVER technologies The training materials for the Program “Specialized technical training on VVER technology for students studying nuclear disciplines” consist of three main parts. The first part (Common basic courses) applies to all target groups (both nuclear and non-nuclear students). This part includes the general courses intended for acquiring (in some cases, for restoring and/or updating) the basic general knowledge and competencies needed for successful future activity at nuclear dangerous facilities. Education under the first part of the Program assumes a certain input level of the competencies (background). As a rule, the required background corresponds with the competencies of the students graduated from the Bachelor Degree Programs. The required background level is presented in the Deliverable D1.4 on Work Package 1 “List of competencies for nuclear and non-nuclear students”. The next parts of the training materials foresee two-step educational process on two consecutive training cycles. The second part “Special nuclear knowledge” includes the training courses that deliver basic general propositions about contemporary VVER technologies and some applications of nuclear technologies. The third part of the training materials “Advanced Training in VVER-technology” is devoted to provide advanced special knowledge and skills in VVER-technology. This part focuses on an analysis and simulation of different aspects related with safety of VVER technologies. The third part of the training materials allows the graduates to upgrade their professional activity, to work fruitfully at nuclear power plants, to advance and perfect the VVER technological platform in nuclear energy systems BNS Annual conferеnce "Nuclear Power for People", September 2013, Sunny Beach, Bulgaria

Observers The observers attended the lectures presentations and visited the MFS and special laboratories of the University together with the trainees. The observers were from: INRNE, Bulgaria KNPP, Bulgaria Rosenergoatom, Russia Conclusions All the topics were very interesting, useful and presented in appropriate manner. The lecturers are high qualified professionals, very competent subject matter experts. “Laboratory practice on MFS for VVER-1000” was also very important and helpful for the students. The use of WWER-1000 PC-based simulator gives the students an opportunity to gain an insight of the design as well as a clear understanding of the operational characteristics of VVER-1000 reactor and to demonstrate main physical phenomena.
