2 Wireless Technologies for Broadband Access
Companies in urban areas and remote areas of the country are turning to wireless technologies for broadband Internet access. Reason: Many alternatives being offered by telecommunications companies are too costly or not available.

3 Welch’ Evaluate Options
Twisted Pair: Too slow DSL: Too expensive ISP: Links users to an Internet backbone network.

4 Welch Packaging Choose Wi-Fi wireless service which uses cellular antenna towers and a wireless LAN to connect business locations. Service links business users and consumers to an Internet backbone network. Concerns: Risk of interference from other devices using the same frequency. Distance from the nearest tower.

5 Gorman Uniform Service
Chose a “wireless cable TV” technology called MMDS from Sprint Corp. for broadband Internet access. Reason: Faster and cheaper than alternatives like T1 lines or DSL connections. Drawback/Concern: Internet proxy server has gone down a few times.
