Where the UK private medical transport sector is
Lack of efficient, cost-effective, round-the-clock medical transport services Ambulances overstretched for emergencies Ambulances are showing up late to more than 2,600 emergencies a day. Government figures show that being on time could save 3,000 lives a year Ambulances often unavailable for non-emergencies Out-of-hours and non-emergency service provision has poor response times – captive market Using ambulances for non-emergency travel is expensive and puts stress on resources needed to support genuine emergency cases Lack of suitable transportation creates blockages in the care chain preventing discharging patients or receiving care when they need it Conventional taxi services lack the training and standards required for transporting the sick or vulnerable Levels of service are inconsistent Need for a service based on enhanced training, center on privacy, safety, customer feedback and which is also cost efficient
