11 Customer wins- MITSUI & CO., LTD.
Overview Mitsui conducts business that ranges from product sales, worldwide logistics, financing, and development of major international infrastructure and projects in fields - Iron & Steel Products, IT & Communication Business, Corporate Development Business. Business problem the customer was trying to solve Increased system availability for their multi-cloud platform including AWS & DR implementation for on-premises workloads based on Hyper-V. How our solution was innovative and transformed their business Operational Insights was chosen to monitor servers/applications including SAP on AWS to collect and manage centrally through the unified Operational Insights portal and drive deep insights from the collected data. In addition to monitoring SAP on AWS, Mitsui also deploying DR solution for the on-premises servers on Hyper-V platform to protect them in their own DR site using ASR through dedicated site-to-site VPN. How and why we were able to win the deal; challenges and learnings Mitsui built strong expertise on System Center suite by using it to successfully managing their on-premises servers running multiple business applications including MS 1st party applications. As they are expanding their deployments to scale into multiple clouds (Private, Azure, AWS) depending on the workloads they needed a single management solution that leverages their existing experience and reduces the overall TCO with business benefits.

May '16 will be the 100th anniversary of the Indy 500 and they are expecting huge crowds and need to scale their environment. Business problem the customer was trying to solve A quote from the CIO sums it up best- ‘We don't want to be in the data center business anymore. We would like to completely move to the cloud so we can get back to what we are good at which is racing cars.’ How our solution was innovative and transformed their business Our unique position in the hybrid cloud space is allowing them to move to the cloud in stages. They are deploying their 2nd StorSimple to help with migrating the data and they are using Azure Site Recovery to move some of the easier workloads into Azure right away. This is a very important 1st step on their path to being 100% in Azure. How and why we were able to win the deal; challenges and learnings We were able to win by partnering with them to meet their goals. They have a small team and they were very happy to see the support Microsoft was able to provide them. The time we have spent with them will pay dividends in the long run.
