Supporting local and international causes to alleviate poverty, fight injustice and support human rights. Giving up your time on a voluntary basis for people who need legal and non-legal assistance. Developing students skills and knowledge through negotiation and information. Developing and spreading the message of key causes Best Academic Society on Campus Offering projects exclusive to Pro Bono Society in Nottingham. Rewarding student volunteers for their achievements and hard work. Widest range of projects, events and opportunities of any student society in the UK. 4 Our Categories We run eight projects spanning three core categories. The Pro Bono Society committee also runs more general talks, workshops and events outside our main projects. educaTion Penal community Our Education category includes Aspire and Outlaw. Aspire hosts workshops on human rights in primary schools and Outlaw widens participation by teaching secondary school students about life at university. Our Penal category consists on the Unbarred, Howard League for Penal Reform and Nottingham Conviction Review Clinic. These projects give students the opportunity to learn more about the penal system and prisoners’ legal and procedural rights. Our Community category consists of StreetLaw, Negotiations Competition and Junior Lawyers Against Poverty. These projects are wide ranging and focus on improving students core skills and helping the community using legal and non-legal methods.
