Multimodal Level of Service Database
A system that allows us to grade road sections A-F on the level of service provided to pedestrians and cyclists The database contents have been updated to conditions

Multimodal Level of Service Database
Data is tied to ArcGIS and is displayed visually on a map Roadways are broken into sections, usually from intersection to intersection, then graded. EX: OSBORNE AVE FROM FLORIDA AVE TO CENTRAL AVE

Sample Roadways

Pedestrian Level of Service

How it works To generate the grades, the formula takes into account more than a dozen unique criteria. These individual criteria include info like: Presence of sidewalk along road How close sidewalk is to the road How wide the sidewalk is If there is a barrier separating the sidewalk from the road Speed and amount of traffic on road

Presence of Sidewalk Allows us to identify gaps in sidewalk coverage

Separation Width Identifies hazardous corridors

Biking Level of Service

Possibilities Use information to strengthen grant applications for safe routes to schools Evaluate the PLOS and BLOS grades within a 2 mile radius around schools to locate problem areas Identify best locations for new infrastructure investment to improve safety Calculate average PLOS and BLOS scores by school to identify best and worst in county
