National Values & Media
NMG Editorial Policy: Independence; objectivity, veracity, accuracy vigorously support the interests of the underprivileged and disadvantaged groups or persons We stand for racial, ethnic, religious and communal harmony and political/party tolerance as well as other forms of pluralism; and Support for principles of democracy - good governance, transparency and accountability; National Values (Article 10 of The Constitution): patriotism, national unity, sharing and devolution of power, the rule of law, democracy and participation of the people; human dignity, equity, social justice, inclusiveness, equality, human rights, non-discrimination and protection of the marginalised; good governance, integrity, transparency and accountability; and sustainable development.

Key Issues Tension between public’s interest’s right to information vs. other interests Tension between right to know vs. national security interest e.g., Kapedo Massacre & Mt. Elgon Operation – increased terror (Westgate, Garissa cases) Children’s right to privacy vs. activities in society e.g., crime Right to information vs. privileged reporting e.g., Parliamentary reporting Resources can be wasted and Right to privacy vs. vulnerable groups
