Administrative Guide 2. Employees Hired On or After January 1, 1992 Employees with a benefits-eligible hire date on or after January 1, 1992 qualify as an Official University Retiree when all the following requirements are met: At least 10 years of benefits-eligible service, and Age and years of service total 75 or more. This rule is called "The Rule of 75."

Administrative Guide 2.1.10 1. Employees Hired Before January 1, 1992
Employees with a benefits-eligible hire date before January 1, 1992 can qualify as an Official University Retiree one of two ways: Complete at least 10 years of benefits-eligible service and are at least age 55 at the time of retirement, or Meet the "Rule of 75" [see (2) below].
