NASA Discovery and New Frontiers Program Supports the San Diego Festival of Science and Engineering
NASA’s Discovery and New Frontiers Programs (D/NF) coordinated a large NASA exhibit area at the San Diego Festival of Science and Engineering’s Expo Day at Petco Park on March 23, 2013, bringing a great NASA experience to thousands of kids and their families.
Over 25,000 area residents attended the all-day event, which featured a variety of NASA displays and activities from D/NF, Dawn, MESSENGER and Mars. Malin Space Science Systems team members brought photos, models, and video to engage the pubic and explain how Curiosity’s images are captured.
The very popular NASA booth was one of five that participated in a Home Run challenge, encouraging kids to answer space science questions and get a reward stamp.
Fifty students from the Lemon Grove School District performed a spirited version of D/NF’s “Space School Musical” before a large cheering audience.
