She changed the “male only” image of construction contractors across the United States and opened doors for women to enter construction and other non-traditional fields of endeavor. At the young age of 27 Alvarado was invited to join the board of United Bank and today serves on the board of five public companies. She is a recipient of the Horatio Alger Award, the Sara Lee Front Runner Award and was voted American Latino T.V. Network’s “Most Inspiring American Latino”.
