The Dead and the Gone…

FireFighter: (The becoming of The Moon)
“’Hurry! 911! Is the Moon going to hit Earth?’ I was so confused when I looked at the TV. For a couple seconds, I thought it was a TV show, but no. This was actually happening. The phone in the office was ringing like crazy throughout the WHOLE day; a widespread of people complaining about their electricity. It was COMPLETE chaos! All my fellow firefighters were yelling at each other trying to sort out what to do. I remember my boss yelling, “EVERYONE! GET TO BROADWAY AVENUE!!! WE WILL DISCUSS THE MATTERS THERE! DON’T JUST STAND THERE GET INTO POSITION!” I was still confused yet scared at the same time. Everyone was getting into the trucks and rushing to get their uniforms on. When we reached Broadway Avenue, there was a HUGE cloud cover. There were women weeping and people looking at the sky with pale faces. It was if darkness was sweeping the Earth.”

Father Franco: (Hope) “I remember me praying to the Heavens. There were chaotic events happening all around the world and all I could do was to pray. I prayed especially for the Morales Family. Alex was a smart boy and with no communications between both of his parents, leaving him to take care of his two sisters. I informed Alex as much as I could for he took on a big responsibility. Of course I prayed for everybody, for no one knows of what was to become. My prayers were answered after receiving information that Morse Elementary School were going to distribute food to families. I saw many families begging on the streets for food, families trying to savor their pantry to survive, and criminals wandering on the streets, trying to survive. MILLIONS of people were DYING every single day! From physical violence to violent weather, EVERYONE were fighting for their lives! The world was mad! Everyday was a day people prayed for hope. There was barely anything else to eat and I prayed hard every night. I received many blessings for I was able to collect many cans and give to many families in need. These were hard times and without electricity, the world seemed black. I desperately wanted to see the light but I can only see the light in my prayers.”

Cashier: (Survival) “Every single supply of food was diminishing at a fast rate. The ships couldn’t sail Earth’s angry waters to deliver our necessities. Many people started to buy food cans instead. My manager had to close the stores because he was moving to another state after receiving information that his wife died. Without electricity, I couldn’t return to my job. I recall people fighting in the stores just to get cans of food, people scared of the fact that they might not even survived. I received word from my parents that they are okay but many of my family members have either died or claimed missing. I tried getting a job but it was completely useless. It was so useless that I started to roam around town in black, searching for food. Food was becoming scarce and I would do almost anything to survive. After New York had gone into quarantine from the flu, no one could leave or come into New York until the process was completed. I had to fight obstacles to survive. After the electricity came on, all everyone had to do was hope. After all, there wasn’t anything we could do, we just had to hope for the better.”
