1 A Simple Electric Circuit As A Security System
61. A Simple Electric Circuit As A Security System Kigonsera Secondary School Clemence Tafiti and Emilian Haule Abstract: After the series of theft cases in our school, young scientists Tanzania from Kigonsera High School have come out with the project which is “TO MAKE THE SIMPLE ELCTRIC SECURITY SYSTEM” this intended to use the concept of current electricity and mechanics which involve four procedures such as designing weight detector, electric junction and information detector and lastly assembling the three components which result in to lighting and bell ringing after connecting to the source of power. The system will be helpful to the society of Tanzania to secure homes and factories from theft as well as avoiding accidents due to overweight. Method: Material Used Electrical wire Metallic plate Springs Electrical bulb Wooden plate Electrical bell Electrical motor (in car) Nail (iron) The methods used to design the experiment was based on electric and mechanical skills such as construction of weight detector where there is application of springs on the concept of mechanics but they use of electric skills are observed on the use of electric batteries and wires.   Making weight detector Two metallic plate were taken and attached to two separate wooden plates One plate with rough surface was also taken Another plate with smooth surface was also taken Electrical wire with negative sign was connected in one side of smooth plate and another wire with negative sign was connected in one side of rough plate Springs were connected in a rectangular form Rough plate was taken and kept above those springs which was connected in smooth surface Results: From procedures no 01, a wooden plate separates the two metallic plates to avoid them to conduct electricity at normal state. The plate with rough surface has some nails to avoid over compression due to long distance between the plates and the smooth one is the assumed floor where one can step normally. The wires are there to conduct electricity and spring for switching the current on and off when compressed and restored. In procedure number 02, The holes on the plate are there for plugging wires for electric distribution. In procedure number 03, The information detector with numbered bulb purposely aims at showing the exact point of the occasion. The bell is tool for notifying the occurrence of the problem. After assembling the three components and connected to the source of power as shown on (figure 05) when the weight was placed on the detector the springs were compressed then causing the two plates to come into contact, which resulted into the flow of electric current, Then electric current flow into the junction which divided into different sections which are lighting up the bulb and ringing the bell. The above observations imply that the bell ring will show that there is the change in the vicinity around. Lighting up of the bulb shows the exact region when the changes have occurred. For this case if one steps in the home or industrial vicinity, one can detect him/her easily and hence enabling capturing the thief or the law breaker at the specific area Conclusions: The simple electric circuit designed is applicable in several areas such as domestic theft Controlling over weight in transportation for instance in cars, ships and boats The main significance of study is to control theft, preventing accident in transportation means as happened to the school of lucky Vincent and lastly this will reduce government expenditure.
