Public Relations – the planned and sustained effort to establish and maintain goodwill and mutual understanding between an organisation and its public.

Example: Enhancing a particular image, innovation, reliability, honesty. Example: Handling or heading off unfavorable stories which could damage image. Example

Public Relations IS NOT Advertising!
Advertising – is paid space or time on TV, Radio, Newspapers, Outdoor billboards and related to a specific product Public Relations – is used to increase public recognition, opinion or image of the whole business or oganisation. It should be planned, & is often free, involving the use of space, time and a variety of media or activities.
